How Distance Education Works

TRADITIONAL HIGHER EDUCATION DEGREE PROGRAM

When you register for a program, you receive a syllabus for each course. This syllabus outlines the course work, including readings, problems, and exams.

You take the exam in the privacy of your home. After you finish your exam, you mail or fax it to your instructor for grading. Your instructor/professor evaluates your exams to determine the grades.

When you begin a degree program, each of your course professors will be your primary contact throughout the program. Your Program Director will assess your academic credentials and assist you to assure your steady progress towards graduation.

ACCELERATED DEGREE PROGRAM

After registration you are assigned a personal academic advisor who will be your primary contact throughout the program.

As a Bachelor's or Master's degree student you receive reading assignments, specific guidelines for reports and research papers from your advisor. As a doctoral degree student you receive guidelines relating to writing a thesis from your advisor.

Your faculty advisor will guide you every step of the way.

You submit your finished reports, research project or thesis to your advisor by mail.

Your advisor evaluates your assignments to determine the grades.
